Anvwa Mo
An anvwa mo literally translates to the sending of the dead. Usually, a Houngan or Mambo conducts this ceremony for one of two ends. First, to send a mo against an enemy, to send them after a person. But anvwa mo ceremony is also used to send away the "mo" or "zombi" for a client who has been victim of this attack.

Most of the time, the Houngan/Mambo will invoke a Baron into possession, so that the lwa can tell the client his/her condition, how many "mo" have been sent into the client's body. The Baron gives instruction on precautions and other activity for removing the dead.

When the Houngan or Mambo returns to conciousness, he or she starts the work. The client lies on a leaf covered mat, and the dead are called out of the client's body. Then they are sent to where they came from. Baron's cross is presented with offerings, candles, wood, and flaming rum, and other specific items. Then the ceremony is over.

But, the client is usually tired and weak. He/She returns home, where he/she is cared for, and fed, and massaged, etc. Within a short period, the client regains his strength and feels better, lighter, and happier.
